My Crafty Palace

I've had lots of people ask me about my Crafty Palace, both a long time ago and recently and I thought I would post here for those more recent.

I got my Palace built by a place called wright sheds in Essex  http://www.wrightsheds.co.uk/ they make to order, so made to my size spec and where I wanted the windows ect.  At the time I think I was happy with my order.  Since my palace is now 7 years old there are a couple of things I would change.  I would have gone a little bit bigger, its 8ft x 10 ft, I maybe would have gone 10 x 10 and I would have gone for nicer side windows but I was trying to cut down the money and the side windows didnt seem that important but they are not a lovely as my gorgeion windows and door at the front.  I maybe even might have gone for a stable door, that way getting some air in but not having it wide open.    When I ordered my shed I went with these people as they would line it for me so it was insulated.

Here you can see why my shed is so lovely and insulated.  All that toasty padding behind the wood :)

This is a picture once it was built

Two days later on my Husbands birthday he hooked it up to the electric, added plug sockets and light.  Oh I could have done the happy dance!! ... wait I think I did!!

A few years later (2011) I decided I wasnt happy with the shed where it was down near the end of the garden.  It it was cold and wet to go down to my shed so I paid someone to move it.  That was a feat in itself to find someone who would do it.  I managed to track someone down and I think he was from the travelling community and had experience in moving caravans which helped as he knew exactly what to do.  That morning I went to work and I had never been so nervous in my life as my husband sent me pictures of my shed moving bit by bit up the garden!!
The only bad thing since the move is a really creaky middle part in the floor where I think they should have put a wooden post under but I only notice when moving about.

We've had some horrendous weather, rain, snow, ice and I have not got one spot of damp inside/  My papers are fine too.  I have an electric heater inside and I pop that on when I get cold, or in really cold weather I might just pop it on for an hour or so just to keep the shed warm for a while.  But most of the time I go down almost every evening anyway.

My claim to fame for 2014 was being interviewed and photographed by the Daily Mail a uk Newspaper.  As you can see the shed got the makeover here with some lovely paint.

I've since changed it again to add some delicious looking stripes!

I have filled my shed with a mix of Ikea pieces and bits and bobs found
on local selling groups.  Its a mish mash of colour and storage and I love it.
Ceiling and floor, its all used :)

If there any more questions just let me know.

Woodland Frame

I've had great fun the last few days making a fun and decorative Woodland Frame.  I'm not really sue what I will do with it.  I love it too much to give it away so I will have to put it up in my shed (somewhere - my Mum asked if I actually had space for it)

I had brought some polystyrene rings for another project last year and I used
that as a base.

I used the NEW Marianne Designs Hedgehog, Sizzix Debi Potter Owl and Fox head (I added the body)  For the leaves I used the Stampendous stamps - there are matching dies to making cutting much easier.

All from Crafts U Love - www.craftsulove.co.uk

Congratulations Katie & Joe

My work colleague. No scratch that,  my work friend Katie and Joe celebrated their engagement yesterday.  Harvey and i went along to their party to help them celebrate.

I used the Karen Burniston Heart Pivot and Poppy the owl.  I dressed poppy with accessories from props 1.  All available from www.craftsulove.co.uk.

Christmas Card - Create and Take for work

We've been giving our customers at work some Christmas ideas all month and here was my contribution for this past Fridays Create and Take.

I used the Woodware Robin stamp and the Karen Burniston Lorna Label die too.

The Bo Bunny Fa la la la La paper worked perfectly with the "tis the season" stamp
that came with the robin set.

Who could not be jolly with this cute little birdie inside the card?!

You can get the paper, robin stamp and Lorna Label from www.craftsulove.co.uk

New Home card

My Grandad is moving house tomorrow and I of course had to make him a card.  He isn't on Facebook so I know he wont see it :)

I used the Karen Burniston Holiday House
and mounted that on the Lorna Label

No little house scene would be finished without a little bit of celebratory bunting!!

I can't wait to go visit him once he is settled in.

August Designer Challenge part 3

Today I am sharing my third and final card for the Karen Burniston challenge and I have used Poppy.  I love all three of these characters, but of course I am rather fond of Poppy the owl.

I used some other bits and bobs from different sets to decorate this card
and I decided to go mad with the colouring of Poppy and throw out "owl colours" out
of the window and went for a lovely orange and blue.

Please excuse the difference in photos , I took the pictures very late last night.

Other items used :
Accordion Oval
Oval clouds frame edges
Present from Evergreen Pivot Die set
Balloon from Spiral Circle Pull card
Karen Burniston Dies from HERE
The KEEP CALM stamps are from HERE

Remember check out the other DC cards - links on the left of my blog.  There are some very talented ladies on our team.

August Designer Challenge part 2

I'll often try and make 2 cards for the challenge but this month I decided I couldn't choose between Poppy, Hoppy and Chilly so I made 3 cards.  To spread them out I am posting this one Monday afternoon and the next and last one will be tomorrow.

For the next one I used CHILLY - this cool penguin.

Chilly loves living in the snow and loves nothing more but to make "Snow Penguins"  (yes look closely you can see I have used the base of the penguin to make the snowman)

Chilly thought that this penguin snow dude would look nice in a red scarf and so lent him his, after all Chilly is used the the cold weather :)

As well as Chilly I used :

Outdoor Edges
Snowflakes from All Season Tree
and Props 1 for the hat

Order from Crafts U Love in the HERE

Karen Burnistons August Designer Challenge

Its my favourite time of the month, Challenge time!  This month our brief was

" Hoppy, Poppy & Chilly - any theme, any style, any type of project (pop-up, or flat, or 3D or party favor or layout or . . . ?) using the character/animal dies."

SO here is the first of my cards and I will start with HOPPY - Hoppy the most adorable and fun frog and I am sure the DT have some cracking cards for you.

I have been making some frames recently using 2 plates and I was left over with the inside circle "Spare" so I folded it in half and make a circle card.  BINGO!  A lily pad shaped card popped into my head.  So I shaped the front and then grabbed my LOTS OF POPS die to create the pop up inside.

As well as Hoppy I used the following :
Props 1
Lots of Pops
you can find the dies HERE

Hoppy is out of stock at the moment but I am sure its already on order
and will not be long.

I have 2 more cards to share but I will leave one until later today and the other tomorrow.

Don't forget to start checking out the other designs blogs, their links are on mine.

Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Card

I made this card for my son to give to an old school friend this weekend.  I hope she likes it.

I used the Karen Burniston Lorna label die for the main card base and the Debi Potter Sizzix owl die for the main decoration.

Kids are on school holiday for a few more weeks. We went to ikea today with my mum and also to visit my grandad.  I had the day of work with them.  ☺

Sunday, August 10

It's been a long time.

End of July was as very busy time and then right at the end we went off to Spain to visit Darrens parents.  We got back from beautiful sunny Spain Friday into raining Gatwick and then yesterday went to my uncles wedding.  Its be all go go go!

Today was the first time in weeks to play and I made this Owl frame for my hallway.  I basically copied the idea from Sizzix and used the Lori Whitlock Owl Box die.

You can get it from Crafts U Love  http://www.craftsulove.co.uk/sizzix_debi.htm

Something cute to brighten the hallway :)  I LOVE it!!

After a week in Spain, which was lovely.  When your back you really appreciate
all the home comforts and it really is HOME SWEET HOME.
