Paper Pros May Challenge

Hello!! Its been a while again, but I am here with our Paper Pro's Challenge and this month I thought I would be really clever and make the theme "Few of our favourite things" and I thought it would be easy, but when you like so many things it makes choosing tricky!

So here is my card.

And here is a list of my Favourite things.

First up ACCORDION Dies from Karen Burniston.  Amazing dies as accordions but I also love to cut the centres out and these make amazing frames. And on this particular one it has the stitched design around the edges which I love, so I drew through it with a black pen.

Penny Black stamps, namely Margaret Sherry's Designs - these were my first love when I started stamping, probably over 25 years ago!!

Banners I love banners and bunting dies and stamps and I have used here the Lawn Fawn ones.

Lastly on this card I used the Nuvo Aqua Flow brushes from Tonic and I LOVE these.  The colour is so intense but you can use a regular waterbrush and some nice watercolour card to colour in.  These are my new best friends.

The rest of the ladies on the Paper Pros group have been busy making cards.  Remember this is a no stress challenge we do as friends so not everyone will take part every month :)  But it was so much fun not to miss.

Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C375

According to the Days of the Year web site, Thursday 2nd March was World Book Day. For our challenge this week take your inspiration for making your card from a book … adults or children’s book whatever you prefer.

I made this card for today's Create & Take at work and I thought it fitted the book
"The Dressmaker" by Rosalie Ham.

I admit I have not read this book, I think I would enjoy it but I do fancy the film
I have no clue why?!

I have used the GORGEOUS Penny Black stamp "Sew Much Fun"

Second week in February and although I did my card in time I totally forgot to post it on the Crazy 4 Challenges blog last night!  opps!

Tammy is hosting February and she said :

Hello everyone, and welcome to the second challenge for February!  Valentine's Day is approaching, and many take the opportunity to go out for a fancy dinner to celebrate!  So for this week's challenge, incorporate a food/dining/dishes-theme into your design, and also use the color red!

And here is my card :)

I used a Penny Black Owl for my main image.
This was mounted onto the Oval Pull Card from Karen Burniston
I used it minus the optional arm
The Cupcakes are very old Penny Black stamps.

That's my card for today!

Merry Kitty

Hello
I am here with a quick post to show the Create and Take that I made for work last Friday.

I don't think I need to tell you how much I love Penny Black so any excuse to make
a card using a Penny Black Cutie is taken.

The image was stamped with Black Versafine and coloured with distress inks.

For this card I used a Penny Black Stamp set called Santa's Helper
The words, border and snowflakes are from a Cut-ies stamp set called
Little Presents and the shape that I nestled the cat onto is the Karen Burniston
Labels & Circles dies set.  I do love this shape, its big enough to stamp on and has
just the right amount of shape and decoration to make it interesting.
The mini Envelope was also from CUT-IES

Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C362

Hello, its Saturday again and this weeks challenge is :

"Stitches and thread add some for of sewing to your card. This could include machine stitching, faux stitching, dies that have stitches, sewing related stamps, dies, papers, buttons, threads, string etc."

I decided as I am rubbish at real sewing I would use some stamps and dies to meet the theme.
I used the Karen Burniston  RECTANGLE PULL CARD Pop it ups die set for the base card.

The stamped image is a Penny Black Stamp
Scissors are Marianne Designs
Spool and Pin are X Cut
The patchwork, I dusted off my zig zag scissors!!

I was pleased how this one turned out :)

Sorry this is short and sweet but I only just remembered just before bed time that I
did not blog this card yet.

Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C360

Hello!! And its the last Saturday for my themes for the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and I would firstly like
to thank Heidi for being my guest and playing along with some lovely cards.

This last theme is October 29 – C4C360 In a name.... using your initials make a card using dies/stamps that start with your letters.

And here is my card, I have used a CAT stamp who is also in COSTUME

It was lovely to make a card tonight for fun, I have been working on Create and Take, Bats and Class this week, its been full on. So tonight was literally just for the challenge for fun.

You might need some sunglasses for this one!!
But it is everything that makes me happy in one card.

The stamp is an old Penny Black Design and the
Frame he is stamped on is the Karen Burniston, Labels and Circles die set.

Coloured with Distress Ink Pads. Decorated with a Prima Flower that I have had
for a long long time but hoarded :)

You can see all the other challenge cards HERE

Yappy Birthday

After nearly 2 weeks of non crafting whilst I loved my holiday in Spain I missed my crafting but my evenings were instead full of chatting, Uno, Beetle Game, Swimming, fun fairs and food!

But of course I was dying to get back into my shed and create and I wanted to create something just for fun, just creating for creatings sake and no schedule before back to the swing of deadlines and Create and Takes.

So last night I decided I wanted to use the new KAREN BURNISTON TWIST CIRCLE POP UP so that was first decision made,  Second I chose the paper and I found this piece of Kaisercraft Paper and then third I decided to use some old Penny Black dog stamps.  The small ones on the front were purchased 16 years ago!!

So here is my card, love how the TWIST CIRCLE POP UP can animate any stamped or die cut images so any card can be special.

No clue who this card is for, as I said it was made just for fun!

Until next time.

Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C345 - Sketch

It is the third week for this months challenges and the third week is always a Sketch.  So here is the sketch that I based my card on.

We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to link up your creations on the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. And if you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C345.

Obviously with challenges they are open to your own interpretation and this in mine.

Changed around slightly but I do have all the elements on there such as the three embellishments, the oval, a image and the strip.  So you can see these are just ideas to get your creativity going.

You can see the rest of the girls challenge cards HERE

I have used the very lovely Penny Black stamp for my main image.
You can get that from Crafts U Love

For this card I used a stamp set called Krazy Kats from Penny Black

And the frame was an Elizabeth Craft Designs frame

The papers and flowers are from my stash.

That's three down and one to go on this weekly challenge for me
in June and I hope you have enjoyed these challenges along with me.
Its been great fun.  I will be back next Saturday with my last challenge card.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - November

Hi Crafters and today and I am here with my first of two designer challenge cards for November and this month's challenge was :

Pop it Ups Video Techniques - Choose any technique from any of my Pop it Ups videos going back to the beginning and use it for a card of any theme. Put your spin on the video techniques and make them even better! It's your take on (say) an Explosion, Double Pivot, Pivot Accordion, Floating Floor, Double Lorna, Bridge Spinner, Double high Pivot, etc. Peruse my videos here:https://www.youtube.com/playlist

I chose Karen's video HERE which is the DOUBLE HIGH KATIE PIVOT

By using the double high technique it gives you even more space to add your decorations and I chose Buster and Whiskers to adorn my card.

Now you may notice that mine is a slightly different shape to Karen's. That is
due to the position that I placed the Pivot die on the folded paper at which has given me a different shape.  So you can play around with the die placement to get the the shape you would like.

Here is a close up of Whiskers.  I used white card and ink pads
to give her the colour.  Lots of inking with daubers to tie it all in together.

Here are both Whiskers and Buster, Best of friends.  There isn't a sentiment on this
card at the moment.  But you could use it for so many different occasions.

Now I did use a lot of dies for this card and I will list them below :

Whiskers the cat
Buster the dog
Butterfly Embossing Folder
Katie Label Pivot
Butterfly from Butterfly set
Heart from Heart Pivot set

You can purchase your dies from Crafts U Love in the UK
or from Elizabeth Craft Designs HERE

Other Items Used :

The paper used was a very old Bo Bunny from my stash
and the heart flowers are Penny Black.
Ink colour is Abandoned Coral

I will be back tomorrow with my second card for the challenge and don't forget
to check out my talented team mates.  Links on the left of my blog

See you soon

Christmas Pivot

Hi crafters
I am here today with a cute little Christmas Pivot card.  These Karen Burniston Pivots are super easy to create.  You'll not realise just how easy until you try.

This one is called the Katie Label Pivot.  To use the die simply line up the nubs of the die onto the centre fold of a card and Voila!

On the inside pivot and I do apologise for not including a picture, I stamped a Merry Christmas
greeting.

The Penny Black stamp worked perfectly.  It is from a set called Deck the Halls.

I used a Stitched Holly Border on the front of the card which is Poppy Stamps.

All items from Crafts U Love

Teachers Thank yous

This year I only had to make Caidens teachers gifts as they don't do things like this for Secondary school.

I decided yet again on an old favourite, personalised Note Books.  I figure as a teacher or teaching assistant they must need to make a lot of notes.

First up is Mrs Cooper who teachers Caidens class Monday to Wednesday.
I used the Craft Asylum/Sizzix Fox for this.

Next up are the 2 ta's who have Poppy the very cute owl from
Karen Burniston/Elizabeth Craft Designs.

And lastly for Mr Robinson who teaches the class Thursday and Friday I used
this Penny Black stamp.  Mr Robinson is leaving to take "THE KNOWLEDGE"
so I thought this taxi and London roads and Personalised street sign to fit the bill.

I really enjoyed making these books and I hope the teachers enjoy receiving them.

Karen Burniston November Challenge, Part 2

Good Morning,

I'm here with my second card for the November Challenge.

I was shocked at how little blue paper and card I have, I guess its not in my normal colour radar.

I used the Katie Pivot card for this one and a cute Penny Black stamp set

I absolutely LOVE this pivot, if I could chose but one Karen Burniston die
to keep this would be the one.

If you look closely you can see the flowers from the All Seasons Tree has been embossed
down the side of the card.  To Do this use the black embossing mat under the die
and run through the Big Shot machine, instead of cutting it will just press the design into the card.

The bunting is a cute little stamp set from Marianne Designs and its only 99p!!

Happy Birthday stamp is a Taylored Expressions stamp from a set.

I'll be back later today with my WHITE card for the challenge

Sunday, November 9

Karen Burniston Challenge - November - Red, White or Blue

I am a day early with this one, but when you see my card you will know why I wanted to post it today.

This months theme is Red, White or Blue.  Making cards/creations that are mainly one of those colours.

Here is the first card, I have so far made a red and white card and if I get a chance I will get a blue one done too.  Today being Remembrance Sunday  and seeing the beautiful poppies at the tower of London on the news, we've been seeing red poppies everywhere.  A very moving and beautiful sight.  Sadly didn't make it to see them in real life but I have had many friends that did.

On this card I used the Elizabeth Craft Designs/Karen Burniston Lucy Label
pop up for the main stage.
Stamped onto that the Penny Black Poppy Fields.  This is an older design (2005)

I coloured most of the image in grey and gave a burst of colour
just colouring the one red one that he is holding.

With today in mind I am saying Thank you to all who gave so much
in order that we could all live our lives as we do now.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning.
We will remember them

Octobers Karen Burniston Challenge

Wow where does time go?  Another challenge month is upon us and this months challenge was "Make it Manly! - cards for the men and boys in our lives."  I usually use humour and a cute image for most of my men's card.  I am not into the traditional men's cards with football or golf on, suppose I am for the right person but certainly my husband isn't really into any of those stereotypical types.

This month I have used the "Katie Label Accordion" die to make this two page card.  I also used the "Katie Frame Stars" too.  Teamed up with some funny Penny Black and Hampton Arts LOL stamps.
I would definitely send this to my husband!  He is 2 years older than me and I don't let him forget it.

I think also the colours can help with making a male card and I used Black and Kraft to make it look more masculine.

A little humour goes a long way!

I hope you like the card I made this month.
It was very much a last minute thing (opps I forgot) and I am pleased how it turned out.

All items are from Crafts U Love

Karen Burniston - Designer Challenge - Holidays in July

This month our challenge was "JULY 14-15th - Christmas in July - (or Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa) Let's get everyone excited about the new dies by inspiring their holiday cards."

So here is my card for today and I will have another one tomorrow.

I have a confession to make.  I took this photo a while ago when I made the card and I didn't take a photo of the front at the time and I can't for the life of me find my card anywhere.  Thank goodness I had taken a picture of the front.  The card is made using the Evergreen Pivot die set.  As always Karen always thinks about her die design and included with the Evergreen Pivot are a heap of fantastic decorations.

So as well as the main pivot part that gives you three beautiful evergreen trees
you get decorator dies for those trees that have some beautiful embossing detail.
You also have a collection of decorations for the trees.  Stars and baubles.
Also a gorgeous little present too to put under the tree :)  See, so well thought out.

As soon as I saw this die for some reason I thought of a cute Mimi stamp by Penny Black
called "Mimi and Chilly".    So here is my card.  Although in essence it is simple enough
to do, the details in it made it take a little longer.  So tomorrow I will bring you a simpler
card that you could knock a batch up to get your card making done in a quicker time.

I hope that one day I find out exactly where I put this card!! So annoying.

I will be back tomorrow with a simpler card.  But this one would make a lovely card
for someone special :)
