A little Thank You for Karen

I had to send a page for a collaborative project to Karen Burniston and along with their pages my fellow designers had been sending Karen some amazing cards to say "Thank You" for choosing us to be on her amazing team.  Wracking my brains for a good idea I suddenly looked the butterfly pivot in a new light and thus my butterfly bunting was created.

I cut the butterfly pivot onto white card and then a few snips later I had a joined pair of
butterflies. I cut myself 5 pairs and the I cut some lovely bright papers and ran them through
various embossing folders.

I then cut the butterfly detail layer from vellum and you cant see it on this photo but I sprayed it with shimmer spray so it had a subtle shimmer.

I thought that this would look lovely on Karen's demo table and I have made myself one for my
demo table at Crafts U Love.

I added the body which was cut from silver glitter card.  Punched holes either end of the butterflies and tied together with some dotty ribbon.

I cant wait to see what this looks like in place on my table.

Karen Burniston's March Designer Challenge - Spring!

Happy Monday!  And today and tomorrow are the days that Karen Burniston's designers (including moi) post their March challenge cards and this months brief was Spring!  Whoop Whoop and with a day like yesterday its feeling like Spring is just around the corner.

So my card is full of all things that make me happy.  Happy colours, cute little birds "cheep cheep", flowers, spotty papers and Flutterbys.

For the Karen Burniston die I chose the "lots of pops" die.
This die is fantastic for making dimensional cards with lots of elements being able to be
displayed on the various levels of the "pops".  On the back one I have stuck one of the eggs
and chicks, further forward some more and then right on the front the nest.

The eggs actually came from the Karen Burniston Oval Accordion die set - this little stitched oval was the perfect size for this card.  I used one whole and one I snipped in half like
a broken egg shell, of course then I could not resist to pop one on the chicks head :)

Here is a list of what I used :

the papers that I used are mostly the reverse side from the

Here is a closer picture here you can see better the depth that this fun "lots of pops" die creates.

I cut the butterfly from a piece of Shimmer Sheets that ECD had popped in our delivery at work as a sample.  Its a fun material to use. Shimmer Sheetz is iridescent and metallic Mylar and it's endlessly versatile. You can use it for clothing, quilts, accessories and mixed media because it's garment quality (colorfast and washable). It's compatible with all companies' embossing folders and standard depth dies, peel-off stickers, plus electronic cutting machines, most punches, and any paints, markers and inks that work on non-porous surfaces (including Tim Holtz's Alcohol Inks, Sakura Glaze pens, and such). It's acid-free, lots of fun for scrapbooks, cards, party decorations, wreaths and flower arrangements, and more.

I hope you like my card today and please take time to have a look at my fellow designers blogs.  See left for the links.  Come Wednesday Karen will be linking all these cards and project on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog so please to check that out HERE

Happy Birthday Katie

It was Katie's birthday yesterday, 21 again... Well not far off she is only 22 bless her.  Katie works with me at Crafts U Love.  Katie is dreading getting older as she sees us moaning about aches and pains and the perils of sneezing!! LOL  of course we wind her up something terrible.

I had a little fun with this card.  I used a bunch of older stamps and the Karen Burniston Lucy Label pop up.

The fox stamp is Hero Arts, an older design, harder to find I am afraid.
The Rabbit and Flowers again are older Hero Arts stamps.
The Owl is a Hobby Art set, new to me but not sure how old it was
as it was a second hand purchase.

Here is a little close up of those cute animals.

If you are liking my Karen Burniston Creations please come along to the Crafts U Love
Spring Demo Event where I will be demoing these wonderful dies!

A birthday card for Harvey

Luckily Harvey does not use Facebook or anything so I doubt he will see this.  Its my Harvey's 11th Birthday Saturday!  Where has the time gone?? I can not believe my son is 11 soon.

He is like most boys and mad on games.  Minecraft, Terraria, Plants vs Zombies to name a few... so I made him this game card.  I used the Fancy Label Accordion  I am such a donut!  thanks to Karen B for pointing out I used the Circle Accordion card from Karen Burniston and a selection of pictures from all his favourite games.

We are having a nice family trip planned for Saturday and going to The Harry Potter Experience :)

Sending a hug

Sometimes you need to send a hug and I wanted to send this one to a little girl who is in my son Caiden's class who got poorly at the weekend and ended up having her appendix out last night!

I've delivered the card, I am not sure if its received yet or not but I thought I would share.

A quick pivot card using the Katie Pivot and a cute Penny Black hedgehog.

I also used a Memory Box die called Precious Hearts and an old Boofle
Embossing folder.

Inside is again very simple with a sentiment and a Penny Black
border stamp.

I hope this will bring a little smile to her face when she opens it

Sitting on the bench?

If you have been sitting on the bench about the Karen Burniston Bench pop it up! then get off the bench and order yours now!  This die is adorable and you can make pretty or cute little scenes with a few decorator props.  I decided to team mine up with the All Season Tree and a couple of stamps.

The cute little bird is from Kaisercraft stamp set, the same one I used on my owl card yesterday.  The fox
was a purchase made from the states and it is a Papertrey Inc design.

The grass comes with the bench, and the cloud comes with the tree.  Talking trees us
designers on the KB challenge team had been laughing about the "Tree Police" coming
to get us, since a couple of us had used all three leaves in the tree set... life's too short for leaf sorting!! LOL
The flower is part of the tree set too.  And Finally the flourish at the front and the shape at the top is from the very lovely Agatha Edges.

All materials apart from green spot and Fox are from Crafts U Love.

Karen has shot a video showing how to use the bench

Double High Katie Pivot

Hi Friends
Thanks for stopping by.  As soon as Karen Burniston posted her tutorial for the Double High Katie Pivot I knew I wanted to have a go.  But with a busy schedule this week I haven't had much time to play after work.

I also wanted to play with my Kaisercraft Stamp set and zig chalk pen so I managed to combine all these things into this one card.  Oh and I used a Penny Black sentiment for the inside too.

Well if you haven't guess by now I LOVE LOVE LOVE bright colours and I love Orange :)
I had this piece of orange bazzill kicking about and I think it was close to me so I used it.

I also needed something to add interest to the left hand corner so I used a Hero Arts stamp and some white embossing powder.  The Agatha Edges are so useful and I used the flourish from that set too.

Check out Karen's video tutorial HERE
she will show you how simple it is to make this DOUBLE HIGH card.
Watch til the end and you will get to meet the real "Katie"  awww one of her cute dogs

Just how simple it is to make a pivot card

Who is that person talking with the terrible voice??  Me?? Opps!!  I am yet to meet anyone who likes their own voice on camera, but hey ho!

Now this is a quick video showing you just how simple it is to make a pivot card.  It really is a case of cut your card, fold and die cut.

Don't believe me?  Well have a look and promise me you wont laugh too much or count my "ums".

February's Designer Challenge for Karen Burniston

Hello again!

So soon?  Another card??  I am doing so well this year at blogging aren't I?  I hope you are impressed.

So reason I am back is today is the day that we can share our "Designer Challenge" cards made for the monthly challenges at Karen Burnistons Blog.

So first brief was to make a card using one of the three pivot dies.  These pivot dies are so easy its unbelievable! I think I have used all the pivots already.  Butterfly, Heart and Katie.  if you scroll back you will see them all posted already.

On this card I have used the Butterfly Pivot and Butterfly Accessory
dies too. The outside of the card is very subtle and soft and meanwhile.....

Inside there is a party going on!
I used a beautiful flowery paper and it seemed to attract  more butterflies!

I embossed the butterflies with one of Karen's Sizzix embossing folders
on a cream card and then swiped a light pink paint over the embossing to pick up the detail.
Stick on pearls give the butterflies a luxurious look.

If you look to the left of my blog

You can also see Karen's round up on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog

Thank You Accordion Card

Evening crafters and thanks for popping by again.  Here is a card I made this weekend for a display at a trade show at the NEC Birmingham to promote Karen Burniston Designs from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

This lovely one is called the "Fancy Label Accordion" and I decorated it with a few other bits from Karen's collection such as the "Fancy Frame Edges" and the butterflies from the "Butterfly Pivot" set too.   The wording is a Stampendous stamp called "Doodle Thank you"

All the Karen Burniston by Elizabeth Craft Designs are IN STOCK at Crafts U Love.

Right I am off, I am off to schedule another post for tomorrow for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  The first one since Karen's transition from Sizzix to Elizabeth Craft Designs and what an amazing move it has been :)
