Shed pondering again!

OK I have found another place that makes sheds and I was chatting to the bloke about insulating it. Reason I was looking around is ideally I would love to find someone who will make the shed and insulate it too save my hubby a job. Anyway, he was saying they could whiteboard it, basically adding a whiteboard to the inside of the panels. Has anyone heard of this? He seemed to think this would be ok.... I have searched whiteboard and only come up with the things you write on instead of the old chalk boards! They were very good in that he said he would add extra windows and a stable door at no extra cost. I am outside their delivery area so he quoted me a delivery price that wasnt too bad either.

Edited to add the bloke I spoke to wasnt too great, his boss called me back and he sounded much more confindent in knowledge about their products and he has given me a quote to insulate the shed with polysterine and boards which will be fab so I think this is the one. Delivery has increased but he has agreed to let me have double windows instead of single ones and a stable door at no extra cost as well.

Oh what to do!

Hi there, I'm Zoe and I'm a regular visitor to your blog! With regard to your shed, my husband has just built a 3x3m shed in the garden and hung french doors on it. He spent all last weekend putting in insulation and then he lined it with plaster board. I assume thats what the mean by white board. I think we are going to use ours as a summer house as I've already got a craft room so he won't let me claim this too! Zoe.

Yes Caz I have heard of this. I was going to do exactly the same thing when I was thinking of venturing into cat breeding because it makes the inside of the shed wipe clean basically.

I would go for it, you know that you will be looking forever otherwise.

hi caz i think the more you look around the more confused you going to get hun, i reackon set yourself a budject and a size that you would like idealy, also how quick do you need it? can they all deliver in that time frame? also does it have the windows doors etc you want? .. do a little list like that, cross of the ones that do no meet them needs, i know how hard it is to carry on looking but the more you look the more tempted/confused your get!
Take care xx

Not sure if its the same thing or not...but as my room was just brick...mine needed insulating so my other half attatched whiteboard stuff to the bricks..with insulation behind(in between bricks n whiteboard. So am asuming that the guy is talking bout the same thing!
But then i could be wrong...lol

mine doesn't have polystyrene but does have boarding.. It is warm enough for me.. but is thick boarding anyway..

The only other thing I would add is about the stable door.. I specifically asked for one for mine, as I thought it would be a good idea.. however.. it is now fastened together, because it is either open fully.. or shut! A bit of a waste for that really.

Oh Caz what a predicament. Wish I was going through the same problem. I was thinking I could take my hubbys shed but nope he wouldn't be in it.
It would make a wonderful studio.

Years ago my mum had a shed and the whiteboard inside hers was white backed hardboard, so only thin stuff, but you could insulate between the walls of the shed and the hardboard no problem!!

Hi Caz I'm a shed girl too. The one I have now is not insulated and it's awful if you leave anything out it's ruined overnight. I have bought a new shed and am going to insulate it. I have looked into it and I will probably add a vapour barier on top of the insulation, then plasterboard over the top. Vapour barier is just very thick polythene that you staple or nail onto the shed battens. You can get it from any builders merchants. Please, please don't forget the damp will come up through the floor too!!! I am going to paint the concrete underneath the shed base with black bitumin paint and put felt tiles on the floor inside. The type you can get for under laminate flooring, then I will put carpet on top!
Hope your shed goes ok!
