Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - April DC Team and FRIENDS

This months challenge is a little different in that all the DC team were offered the chance to pick a friend to be our blogging companion for this month.  The brief was "Accordion Cards" and we could use any accordion we wanted to.  Our "friend" could chose which accordion they wanted to use as well.

This for me was a "No  Brainer".  I chose my friend Suzie Q who I work with at Crafts U Love. Suzie makes lovely cards but unfortunately has suffered from lack of time and lack of mojo, I hoped in that choosing Suzie she might find her mojo and believe me she has!! I have seen her card and it is lovely.  Typical Suzie Q style... Kraft and cute!

On a personal note Suzie is like a ray of sunshine!  she makes me laugh, but she is a loyal friend and don't take no shizzle!  (can I say that - I guess I have LOL)   Shes told me not to "big up" her card, she feels its not anything fantabulous, but I disagree. I love it and you will get the chance to see it tomorrow on her blog at http://www.squirrelq.blogspot.co.uk/    - she'll tell me off now I am sure :)

So now onto my card.  I have an admission to make.  I have been so busy making cards for my demo at Crafts U Love this past Saturday that last night was the first time that I got to even think about what I was going to do and I don't know why but I knew I wanted to make "Dutch" the fox and I knew I wanted to make her look like she was sleeping.  I have a few Fox stamps that are sleeping and they are so cute, a couple of dies too and I knew with a little tweaking I could make this work.

I cut the shadow of Dutch out using some lovely orangey card.  I trimmed off parts and slimmed down parts too.  I cut a top layer of Dutch from the same card and used the head and legs to decorate.  I cut the decorative trims with white card and added them where they looked best, I used a black pen to add sleeping eyes, the nose and leg parts.  I used a pencil and ink pad in same sort of shade to add shading and definition to the parts and assembled together.

I put this onto the Circle Accordion, an oldie but a goodie!  Some gorgeous Happy Paper was cut using the Square with Circle frame edges.  I used the branches, Flowers and clouds from the All Season Tree.  I love to use the tree foliage "puffs" as clouds and use them, a lot!

The inside pages are a bit simpler in that I used a computer generated phrase for the middle section and I used the Honey Bear that was cut as usual but just inked and coloured and also given the "sleepy eyes" look.

You can use these words if you want as I have saved as a JPG

And here is the final panel with the sleeping Honey.

I will be back tomorrow to post the link again to Suzie Blog, she will post her's tomorrow and the DT will be posting their posts or their guests will be post there posts starting today Monday and tomorrow Tuesday so keep an eye on the side bar on the left for all the links.

Thank you for popping by today and I hope you enjoyed the card and the new look Dutch!

Awesome sleepy Dutch & Honey! Such a wonderful card Caz. I also love how you used the All Seasons Tree as branches behind the sweet sleepy characters.
