Karen Burnistons August Designer Challenge

Its my favourite time of the month, Challenge time!  This month our brief was

" Hoppy, Poppy & Chilly - any theme, any style, any type of project (pop-up, or flat, or 3D or party favor or layout or . . . ?) using the character/animal dies."

SO here is the first of my cards and I will start with HOPPY - Hoppy the most adorable and fun frog and I am sure the DT have some cracking cards for you.

I have been making some frames recently using 2 plates and I was left over with the inside circle "Spare" so I folded it in half and make a circle card.  BINGO!  A lily pad shaped card popped into my head.  So I shaped the front and then grabbed my LOTS OF POPS die to create the pop up inside.

As well as Hoppy I used the following :
Props 1
Lots of Pops
you can find the dies HERE

Hoppy is out of stock at the moment but I am sure its already on order
and will not be long.

I have 2 more cards to share but I will leave one until later today and the other tomorrow.

Don't forget to start checking out the other designs blogs, their links are on mine.

Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Card

I made this card for my son to give to an old school friend this weekend.  I hope she likes it.

I used the Karen Burniston Lorna label die for the main card base and the Debi Potter Sizzix owl die for the main decoration.

Kids are on school holiday for a few more weeks. We went to ikea today with my mum and also to visit my grandad.  I had the day of work with them.  ☺

Sunday, August 10

It's been a long time.

End of July was as very busy time and then right at the end we went off to Spain to visit Darrens parents.  We got back from beautiful sunny Spain Friday into raining Gatwick and then yesterday went to my uncles wedding.  Its be all go go go!

Today was the first time in weeks to play and I made this Owl frame for my hallway.  I basically copied the idea from Sizzix and used the Lori Whitlock Owl Box die.

You can get it from Crafts U Love  http://www.craftsulove.co.uk/sizzix_debi.htm

Something cute to brighten the hallway :)  I LOVE it!!

After a week in Spain, which was lovely.  When your back you really appreciate
all the home comforts and it really is HOME SWEET HOME.

Karen Burniston - Designer Challenge - a simpler design

Whilst I don't usually do very elaborate cards, neither do I do super simple.  But this card could be made reasonably quickly and could be even quicker with a simple printed sentiment.

Here I have used CHILLY the delightful Penguin
and the trees die from  OUTDOOR EDGES set.
Those eagle eyed amongst you might spot that I also used the hills
dies from the same OUTDOOR EDGES and sponged in a light blue
to create snow drifts.

The leaves are from ALL SEASONS TREE
and I made the label shape that the text is stamped on
using the AGATHA EDGES

All of course from the very wonderful Karen Burniston and Elizabeth Craft Designs

Karen Burniston - Designer Challenge - Holidays in July

This month our challenge was "JULY 14-15th - Christmas in July - (or Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa) Let's get everyone excited about the new dies by inspiring their holiday cards."

So here is my card for today and I will have another one tomorrow.

I have a confession to make.  I took this photo a while ago when I made the card and I didn't take a photo of the front at the time and I can't for the life of me find my card anywhere.  Thank goodness I had taken a picture of the front.  The card is made using the Evergreen Pivot die set.  As always Karen always thinks about her die design and included with the Evergreen Pivot are a heap of fantastic decorations.

So as well as the main pivot part that gives you three beautiful evergreen trees
you get decorator dies for those trees that have some beautiful embossing detail.
You also have a collection of decorations for the trees.  Stars and baubles.
Also a gorgeous little present too to put under the tree :)  See, so well thought out.

As soon as I saw this die for some reason I thought of a cute Mimi stamp by Penny Black
called "Mimi and Chilly".    So here is my card.  Although in essence it is simple enough
to do, the details in it made it take a little longer.  So tomorrow I will bring you a simpler
card that you could knock a batch up to get your card making done in a quicker time.

I hope that one day I find out exactly where I put this card!! So annoying.

I will be back tomorrow with a simpler card.  But this one would make a lovely card
for someone special :)

Buzzing Bee Birthday Card

Today's card is a card I made for a friend.  I loved this Sizzix bee as soon as I saw him,.  Tooooooo cute.

I used the Karen Burniston SPIRAL PULL CARD which is out
Mid July at I will be demoing this at Crafts U Loves demo
event on 26th July

Here is the inside of the card - you can see the spiral inside and the pretty flowers cascading
out from the inside :)

Card for my nephew

It was my nephew kierans birthday yesterday and although I had remembered earlier in the week the day was suddenly here and it was like eeekkk! So I grabbed a few things yesterday morning and made it in my lunch 1/2 hour.  Despite the rush it turned out cute.

I used joy card base.  Marianne phone and frog.

Meet Hoppy..

I've got two Hoppy cards for you today.  I feel a bit like Hoppy at the moment, its a busy time of year with kids holiday and end of school looming for Harvey.  There are lots of things happening at school and after school too and of course me being me find myself offering to make a 30 person, 4 flags per person bunting, Props for photo booth.  Then there are teachers and ta gifts too.  Also an order for 15 teacher gifts and I am a busy Hoppy girly that's for sure.  I would much prefer being active though so its all good :)

Hoppy I thought would make a wonderful witches frog and here Hoppy is cooking up a storm.
No "leg of frog" in this spell though.  Hoppy very much would like to keep his!

I used the Katie Label pivot for this one :)

For my next card I used the "Ring Accordion" and dressed Hoppy up in her finest bow and
best "lippy"  Waiting for her prince maybe??

LOVE those little flies that are part of the "Hoppy" die set.

These characters really are fabulously funny to make
and so easy too :)

Hoppy, Poppy and Chilly along with the Ring Accordion
and a tonne of other awesome dies will be available
Middle July onwards at Crafts U Love in the UK
and other places worldwide.

Meet Lorna... pop up die

For today's card I have made a birthday card for one of Harvey's friends.  I wanted to use my Penny Black Kitty and they make me laugh, cute but comical so fine I thought for a boy.

Lorna as you can see has a HUGE area for decorating so it makes choosing
images or dies fun.

These dies are so easy to use and will be in stock mid July at Crafts U Love

The Penny Black is in stock now at Crafts U Love

Its been mad busy recently.  Finally on my day off tomorrow :)

Another Poppy card

Today I am sharing another Poppy card.  The three characters from Karen Burniston are adorable, I love them all but I do think Poppy is my favourite, of course, its an owl.

I used the NEW Poppy die along with the Accordion Fancy label
and the NEW coming soon Seasons Fancy Frame edges

The left hand side frame is how the dies is designed to work
and the right hand side was made using some waste that I was left over with
reason being I was running out the of the gold glitter and didn't have enough
to finish the hole frame so I made this up.

Poppy is perched on a cut down All Seasons Tree

I decorated the front panel with a sentiment from an old DOCrafts stamp

Poppy and  Seasons Fancy Frame edges will be in stock at Crafts U Love
Mid July and I will be demoing all the Karen Burniston range Saturday 26th July

Accordion Fancy label is in stock at Crafts U Love

June Designer Challenge - Photo Accordion albums

This months challenge was to make  Photo Accordion Albums - here's your chance to show off the people you love or your favourite things or your ancestors or garden or pets or . . . doesn't matter. Make an Accordion Album that showcases at least one photo. Any length album, any shape album ,any theme album, but get a photo or photos on there!

So here is my album and it showcases the Katie Accordion that will be released Middle July :)

I had lots of choices for my album and I was torn between my boys and Milo but I decided to make an album of a recent family event.  My nieces wedding to Tom just a few weeks ago.

I have used the butterfly embossing folder from Karen Burniston/Elizabeth Craft Designs
and rubbed over with Champagne Mist Fantastix to give a really shimmery look, not evident in
the photos unfortunately. I chose red to go with Leanne's beautiful flowers.

I did not emboss all the frames, just the two either side.  I decorated the middle one with the little corner flourish from the same die set.

Its so simple to make these lovely keepsakes, something to either send or keep
on your mantle.
